Home > About Xavier > Why does Xavier need a Van?

Hello, we need your help in being able to provide Xavier with the support of having his own vehicle. He is not the little boy that was so easily able to get in and out of our family wagon. We are also no longer able to push him around for extended periods in his manual wheel chair. So, Xavier will be moving to a motorised assisted wheelchair so that he can continue doing the things that he loves. This also means that the family station wagon is going to have to go.

We have done some research and believe that the Volkswagen People Mover is the van that he needs. We have seen the KIA Carnivals but they were not designed to carry heavy loads like the Volkswagen MultiVans.

Xavier also has 2 little brothers and will potentially be in car seats for another 5 years which means the conventional method of a rear entry van is not optional as we would have to remove and put back in the car seats every time we stopped to go anywhere. This is why we have opted for the Side entry modification for Xaviers Van. We love doing things as a family and Xavier loves a good family road trip.

Another reason for the Van is that we potentially will now be able to have a carer assist Xavier on these family trips enabling Xavier to have some more independence from Mum and Dad.

The Van also gives Xavier the option to store his Walker with him as well as his wheelchair, currently he has to choose on which one he takes with him.

If you have any ideas on fundraising activities we could do to help reach out goal that would be fantastic. Please contact us.

Thank you for your time.
